It was so great to have Red and Debbie stop by! I spent basically every weekend and most week nights growing up going racing with Red whether Kenny was driving for him or he was helping us. Red Stauffer was the first person to let me pilot their sprint car, once on dirt and once on asphalt. Red and Kenny became partners to co-own the USAC New Generation Silver Crown car that I was fortunate enough to pilot in 2006! There isn't a guy in the country that can make a dirt sprint car just as competitive on asphalt as the actual asphalt cars themselves aside from Red. He taught me everything I wasn't supposed to know as a youngster but I also learned a lot of valuable information and lessons from him in regards to life as well as racing. I could have never packed up and moved across the country with my race car and stood a chance if it weren't for the invaluable knowledge I gained from Kenny, Red and the other great influences in my life. I have always felt incredibly fortunate to have been surrounded by such intelligent, talented, and all around great people. I owe any of my success in life to the people who led me by their example, and I'm blessed to have quite a few!  (It was pretty special having one of your mentors tell you how proud they are of where you've gone and what you've accomplished!) #bgr22 #dirttrackracing #sprintcars #roots #racing #legendsofthesport #wiseemup #racingelders #givethanks

10/23/17

In 2017, the STERNER MECHANICAL, BRISK OPERATIONS, DRYWALL WIZARD, CnB CHUBBY, Don Ott Racing Engines, Shaw Racing Chassis #22 competed in 9 events all having fields of 32 competitors or more with the exception of 1 race. In those 9 races we earned 1 top 10, 4 top 15s, 3 DNFs, and we only had to run 1 B-main making the Feature/Main event for all 9 races we entered. We raced at Bedford Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway, Lincoln Speedway, Selinsgrove Speedway and Path Valley Speedway all within the "Central PA" realm against some of the best race car drivers on the East coast.

I couldn't be more proud of this race team and how well we were able to compete with such little seat time/experience coming into 2017. Towards the end of the offseason we had so much excitement about our new marketing partners as we anxiously prepared for our upcoming 16-race season and returning to sprint car competition after basically 4-5yrs off.

Unfortunately one helluva roller coaster ride followed our daughters birth leaving me pretty positive I wasn't going to be returning to sprint car racing anytime soon. But after amazing miracles happened and things settled down with Malaya, this incredible support system that surrounds me made of incredible people stepped up to the plate. Before I knew it we were headed to Bedford Speedway in May to knock the rust off with the URC.

It was an insane amount of effort and stress running 9 races amidst our new everyday life, especially ensuring the car was effectively/thoroughly prepared before each and every race as usual. But I think our effort was well worth it as our race car performed flawlessly every time it hit the race track, and the crew worked flawlessly to ensure the race car stayed that way all night long. Our DNFs had no relevance to parts failures or parts coming loose but rather terrible setup choices by me and a fender bender.

I can't thank Sterner Mechanical, Brisk Operations, Drywallwizard and CnB Chubby enough for coming on board this season and making it possible! If not for Rod End Supply, Robison Racing Products, GME Steering, DMI, Moose Blocks, Don Ott Racing Engines, Shaw Chassis, Butlerbuilt Seats, Whitebread Titanium, DHR Suspension, and Kustom Race Parts I would not be able to prepare/maintain such a reliable & competitive race car.

Brett Worrell, Todd Beehm, John Fiore, Bobby Lamond, Nick Aldinger, Nick Mann and Walter Hyle all did an incredible job keeping up with this race car through out the race nights, allowing me to purely focus on driving and making necessary adjustments (even terrible ones). All of our amazing fans that participated in our raffles before the season began were instrumental in enabling us to pay off our engine rebuild and break it out of jail, THANK YOU!

The biggest thanks goes to my wife for even allowing me to pursue racing this season. At any point she could have said no, and understandably so, but she didn't and I can't thank her enough. The family help that went on behind the scenes to make going racing possible was immense as well and I could never thank our families enough for what they've been doing not just when I went racing but all the time!

We've got a long winter ahead of us and naturally I want to compete again in 2018, more so than what we did this season. In order for BGR to compete in the capacity I'm thinking we will have some building to do in the off season. We hope to see all of our partners return for 2018 with the addition of many more. I will also need to prioritize getting a situation in place for help with the weekly maintenance in between races as that is a very slow process for me when fitting it in between life right now. We will plug away and keep everyone updated as things progress, we look forward to seeing everyone next racing season. BGR has a lot of room to grow/improve and we intend to do just that. THANK YOU FOR THE AMAZING SUPPORT!!!  #BGR22 #dirttrackracing #sprintcars #roots #racing #STERNERMECHANICAL #BRISKOPERATIONS #DRYWALLWIZARD #CnBchubby #hempzels #hempheals #hempeaze

6-5-17

After mixing up TPN and hooking Malaya up, I was finally headed to Williams Grove Speedway with the the team.

While we didn't get the kind of results I'd prefer, we went forward in the B and the Feature. Having only ran a heat race at Port Royal, this was basically like our 2nd race out. It's very reassuring to see that we are competitive right now given the lack of seat time. Again I feel I had a race car that out performed my talent. I am so happy that every time we've hit the track this year the car has been pretty damn good, it's just a matter of me getting with the program.

We started 5th in our heat race and finished 7th. That put us 6th in the B-main with the top 4 making the main event, we would finish 3rd. With our best set of tires destroyed from the B-main we put on a blistered up LR and a decent RR tire to start 23rd in the Feature race. We fought our way up to 16th place.

After we got the car washed I was home just in time to do Malayas 2am care before I showered and passed out!

I truly can't thank Jake with Sterner Mechanical, Brett from Brisk Operations and Timothy the Drywallwizard enough for making this season a reality. Massive thanks to my amazing wife who allows me to bail on her for a chunk of hours to go stick the needle in my arm again! And of course all thanks go to our family and friends who have given up so much to help our little family! Big thanks to Beerhill Gang TV for having BGR on the show, you guys are awesome and do so much for this sport here in Central Pa.

My guys as usual, were on point and did one helluva job taking care of the car all night so all I had to was focus on driving and adjustments. Or mainly driver adjustments haha. Damn it felt great to be back at Williams Grove Speedway!!!! #bgr22 #dirttrackracing #sprintcars #roots #racing #pursuepassion #sternermechanical #BriskOperations #drywallwizardpa #hemp #justsayknow

6/1/17

The Sterner Mechanical, Brisk Operations, Drywall Wizard BGR #22 will be at Williams Grove Speedway tomorrow night competing with the URC 360 sprint cars!!! I can't even begin to describe how stoked I am. The whole reason I moved back up here was because of my love for making rounds at that place! I still have a lot of rust to lose but couldn't be more excited for Friday night!
Since this team has returned to competition I couldn't be more proud of how everything has gone. With no mechanical issues and the car being dialed in pretty damn good each race, it literally has just been a matter of me having to get with the program again. I couldn't be more grateful to be wheeling a sprint car again, see everyone tomorrow night! #bgr22#dirttrackracing #sprintcars #roots #racing#sternermechanical #briskoperations#drywallwizard #hempzels #hempheals#pursuepassion

May 21, 2017

This week was a huge week for Team BGR. We couldn’t do it without the help and support of our incredibly understanding sponsors. More importantly, the silent help of all our friends and supporters that work behind the scenes to make BGR a community, a family.

With Malaya finally home, her care has been the main focus of Bryn and Amanda, as it should be. As a result, the crew has stepped up and taken on a lot of the responsibility and tasks that Bryn would normally do himself. For this, we are truly thankful.

In the early hours of the morning, after working second shift, Bryn and Nick worked till 4 a.m. to get the car loaded and trailer prepared for Friday night’s trip to Bedford Speedway.

Bedford Speedway is located on the historic Bedford Fairgrounds. This 5/8 mile dirt oval is the oldest continually operation race track in the state. Bedford Speedway has been a monkey on the back for the BGR 22. On this, our third visit to the track, we actually not only made the feature, but had a respectable finish. On our first trip, we destroyed the engine, and then the next visit was a rain out.

This week, we pulled out early to make the trip west. Upon arrival we unloaded and got the car ready for the night. We started last in heat one. The top 6 transferred to the A main, the rest had moved to the B main for one last chance to make the A. With a hole in the main groove going into turn one and the top being loose power, the field either went low, or straddled the hole until the groove could be pushed higher. Looking good and moving around to find the fastest way around, Bryn piloted the car to a 7th place finish in the heat. That would ultimately put the Sterner Mechanical/Team BGR 22 on the front row of the B main.

In preparation for the B, Bryn decided no changes needed to be made to the car for the 8 lap B main. With the inside pole slated for the start, we only needed a 4th place finish or better to transfer. With luck on our side, 2 cars scratched from the B main meaning that all the remaining cars would automatically transferred to the A main.

With the BGR 22 scheduled to start 20th in the 24 car field, Bryn went into crew chief mode and instructed John and Walt to make several changes to the car for the 25 lap feature. With a gear and shock change and a change to the stagger, we were ready to put the boss to work.

As the green flag fell, Bryn had his work cut out for him. He was racing with several cars in the deep in the pack when the 1st caution waved for a car slowing in turn 1. Once the green came out again, Bryn was on the outside and took the 22 three wide into 1 and 2. Clearing 2 cars he cleared the number 73 in a drag race down the back stretch. He continued his forward progression for the remaining laps and brought the car home to a 13th place finish. All in all it was a good showing and confidence booster for the entire team after more than a year off.

The Team BGR cast and crew will be in action again on May 28 at Port Royal Speedway.

This season would not be possible if not for Sterner Mechanical, Brisk Operations LLC, Drywall Wizard, Platinum Promotional Products, Rod End Supply, GME Manufacturing, Robison Racing Products, Kustom Sprint Car Supplies, AO Designs, DMI, Butlerbuilt Seats, Moose Blocks, Whitebread Titanium, Don Ott Racing Engines, and Wings Unlimited. This season would especially not be possible if it weren't for all of you awesome family, friends and fans who supported our DeWalt tool raffles!

Well as much as I would love to strap into the Sterner Mechanical #22 this weekend it appears I have more important things ahead! First off it's pretty obvious Mother Nature doesn't want us to race, but secondly and most importantly, we received word that Malaya is expected to be discharged early next week!! With this being the case, I need to really take the weekend and live at the hospital like Amanda has been doing and learn the fundamentals of her care! I have an understanding of what needs done, but I have not been able to be there for any training other than catheterizing. So needless to say instead of concerning myself with going racing this weekend I'm going to be focused on getting ready to bring this Lioness back to the den!

On a side note, I really hope they get in contact with Dr. Rudolph out at Pittsburgh before she gets discharged so we can ensure we have all the bases covered and she's best prepared to move forward!

We are infinitely grateful for all the love and support our family is continuously receiving from everyone. THANK YOU!  #forwardseverbackwardsnever

Team BGR is excited to announce the return of the Sterner Mechanical 22 to racing action this Saturday night 5\6\17 at Selinsgrove Speedway. We are stoked to get back at the track, shake the car down and knock off some of the dust that has accumulated since we last ran some 18 months ago.
